Book Club

Hi, and thanks for visiting my book club page! This is a book club with a difference; it’s exclusively devoted to self-improvement books, facilitated by a coach (me!) and we focus on making the theories in the book come to life and have a real impact in your own life. Each month, we’ll read a different book from the self-improvement genre and focus some of the biggest messages in the book, because I think the hardest thing with self-improvement books is taking the theory into our real lives.

Attending Jo’s book club has been such a great experience. Jo is incredibly professional, but also friendly and welcoming, she adds little personal touches to every get together that make it feel special. The evenings themselves are informal and fun, but also create the space to think about me, something that usually gets squeezed out of the chaos of everyday life. She recommends accessible reads, with practical examples to work through and reflect on, such as building good habits and managing personal priorities. However, one of the best things is how friendly, fun and smart all the people there are, and how Jo brings out the best in everyone, I would definitely recommend the book club.

So how does online Coaching Book Club work?

Coaching book club is a completely online and takes place every Tuesday in my stories on Instagram. All stories will be saved to my highlight bubble on Instagram so you have the most flexibility. It’s totally free to join in and very low key, dip in and out as you want. Each month we’ll take a book and discuss a quarter of it each week, to be clear I’m not in the slightest bit strict, so if you get a bit behind please don’t stress! Equally, if you want to read ahead thats totally fine too!

I’ll announce 3 months worth of books at a time to give us all time to purchase/loan them. My criteria for selecting book are:

  1. That the author has some authority in that field (not necessarily academic qualifications though I do prefer this)

  2. Over 300 reviews 4 star reviews although I might be more flexible if we wanted to select a newly published book

  3. There is evidence presented to support the authors claims. I’m looking for solid references, case studies, relevant experience etc

  4. I try to select from a wide variety of topics - suggestions are always welcome.

Each Tuesday I’ll add prompts, polls and discussion topics in my stories on Instagram and a post summarising or on a topic to Instagram and Facebook. I’ll signpost you to any interviews or podcasts that might be of interest and will design worksheets for you to use where it fits. If you fancy a deeper discussion I have a Facebook page dedicated to to Coaching Book Club which you can join
