The Tools by Phil Stutz and Barry Michels
A book written by two psychotherapist, published originally in 2012, 4.4 stars on Amazon from over 3800 reviews and similar on Goodreads. It’s another book that is more from the counselling and therapy genre but the topics covered in the book about becoming ‘unstuck’, expressing yourself and combatting anxiety in particular are very much part of coaching and we’ll read the book with a coaching lens.
What does the book talk about?
“The Tools is a set of five dynamic and effective psychological techniques you can use anytime, anywhere. Together they will propel you forward through whatever troubles or negativity are holding you back, to find happiness, achieve your ambitions and fulfil your true potential.
Get Unstuck: master the things you are avoiding and live in forward motion.
Control Anger: free yourself from out-of-control rage and never-ending grudges.
Express yourself: learn the secret of true confidence and find your authentic voice
Combat Anxiety: stop obsessive worrying and negative thinking
Find Discipline: activate willpower and make the most of every minute.
The authors are Hollywood’s most acclaimed psychotherapist with over 60 years’ experience between them.
